Equal parts event planner and social network, ADB creates platforms to raise awareness, generate discussion, and inspire action for good. About meAfter graduating in 2004, I served as Deputy Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Patty Murray's reelection campaign and have since been working to reduce the achievement gap in NYC's public schools as head of marketing and recruitment for the NYC Teaching Fellows program. I am starting at NYU School of Law this fall. In these past experiences, I have learned about the positive consequence of turning thought into action, the power of individuals to affect change, the imperative of collaboration, and the excitement of instilling passion in others to fight for ideals in which they believe. Putting these lessons and experiences to work in order to both conceptualize and now create ADB has been the single most exhilarating and formative experience of my life. ADB has started small and grown organically, but a Make It Your Own Award would allow this concept and our community truly to take off. Over the past year, I have cultivated--and continue to cultivate--a diverse team of intelligent, motivated, and creative partners from all skill sets and professions, who now work together in our free time to make our dream a reality. There's Risa and Abby, both young directors of new and growing non-profit organizations. Victor is a world-class dancer. Adrian is a technology genius. Nikki an events planner, Faytheallegra a filmmaker, Theo a futurist, and Mac a designer. Our crew continues to grow. We may all have very busy lives and jobs, but we are committed to seeing our project through. |
