Campaign for College Hill

Project Summary

The Campaign for College Hill is a collaborative effort promoting social responsibility and community revitalization. Residents of this neighborhood are creating and will implement a plan that is responsive to the needs of residents and will become a model for neighborhood revitalization.

About me

I have been an educator, wife, stay-at-home Mom and devoted grandmother. My faith is important to me and my involvement with the College Hill neighborhood is an extension of my Christian beliefs, specifically, loving my neighbors and sharing my blessings. I believe it is our social responsibility--to look beyond ourselves and see the big picture. My involvement with this neighborhood has helped me to do that. I want to be a catalyst for change; to work side-by side with residents to revitalize this neighborhood. Key members of our team include: Carmen Gamble, a life-long resident of the College Hill community. Carmen is a Lieutenant in the Army Reserves and an advocate for the residents. She is a poised speaker and effectively led the charette process with residents. Marie Kienker, Director of the Lutheran National Housing Support Corporation has provided guidance and committed financial and human resources to support this initiative. Reverend Juan Gonzalez is a consultant, hired by the LNHSC to work with the residents. He has been involved with other community revitalization projects and is passionate about College Hill and what the future holds. Ana Paul was hired by the LNHSC to identify broader community resources such as banks, businesses and foundations. Through our combined efforts, we will build further momentum, encourage continued resident involvement, inspire collaboration, generate interest and create enthusiasm for this neighborhood revitalization effort.
