Project Summary

In East Dayton, Ohio, a group of neighbors and community leaders unites to create a safe space to discuss issues of Hate crime and take action in the community, use films, dialogue and a media campaign, to explore our differences ,work together to build a safe and peaceful community.

About me

I am a 35-year-old black man originally from Nigeria. I have been blessed to pursue and obtain a degree and training in English Language, Education, a master's degree in Communication and Conflict resolution. I am in a cohort in Antioch University's distinctive PhD Program in Leadership & Change. I am married to an African American,work with diverse community members, Iactive in the dialogue and deliberation community and executive director of Civic Life International, (www.civiclifeint.org) an organization made of up African and American media and dialogue practitioners who believe in the educational possibilities of using media and dialogue to strengthen the competencies of citizens Sandy Heierbacher said the Make It Your Own is an opportunity to do on a larger scale the community work about Hate crimes in East Dayton. . Amy Jones,is Appalachian white, respected Educator and community trainer who has lived in the community for over 20 years. Rosa Caskey is a Hispanic immigrant who is the local coordinator for League of United Latin American Citizens, the largest and oldest Hispanic Organization in the United States Pastor Beth Holten is a community leader and minister at St Paul United Methodist Church and finally, Steve Fryburg is, a former police officer and the director of Dayton International Peace Museum, a hub for community activities in Dayton.
