The four short, packed weeks between finding out we will be receiving some grant monies, and meeting with our 2008 group of kids for the first time on Jan. 13th, are filling up with excited phone calls, emails, conversations. Last year, we vowed not to do things like this again, but here we are, scrambling to get our roster of young storytellers together.
Not to whine, but out of three major local applications we made this fall (all of which appear optimistically on the budget we submitted to Case as 'Income'), only one has actually come through- and that for only 1/2 of the amount we had requested. We're beginning to realize that this is the lot of many non-profits.
But, we are happily going ahead to do what we can with that much, and we're holding onto our dreams of what we will put in place when it becomes possible. For now, we're waiting to hear from some new groups we've reached out to, to finalize our list of kids for this year.
