These kids would not be served otherwise. About meI am Tricia Carlisle-Northcutt, founder and President of Children's Volunteer Healthcare Network. My belief is that each child has the right to quality healthcare --today. It is our privilege and duty to help these kids. This year I was 2006 Humanitarian of the Year, South Walton Realtor of the Year and received the 2006 National Association of Realtors Good Neighbor Award. These awards belong to the cumulative efforts of our entire team. Kate Johnson is CVHN Vice President and "Just for Grins" board liaison. Kate is instrumental in developing and implementing the dental bus program. Dr. James Nabors, advisory board member, is our consulting dentist on the project. He has practiced in our community for 26 years. Through the perseverance of volunteer Bill Roberts, we now have 22 volunteer dentists. Our 5 orthodontists have provided 13 sets of braces. This is a two year commitment to these kids. There is no insurance available for poor kids to have braces and these braces are for health reasons not cosmetic. We have also been assisted by the Walton and Okaloosa County school systems that strongly support our "Just for Grins" program and are looking forward to the day when we open our doors at their schools. Walton County helped us obtain a used mobile dental bus. The Walton County Health Department and school personnel refer kids in need to CVHN. We are also in alliance with several non profits including Children in Crisis Neighborhood, Shelter House, Cope and others. |
