Project Summary

We will invite 70 community leaders to participate in Kitsap CoLab, forging a shared vision of a sustainable future for our County and projects to build that future. CoLab members will carry out those projects. The grant funds will provide the resources to support and sustain those projects.

About me

I am a mother, wife, social justice and environmental activist and a social work administrator in adolescent health for a county Health Department. Since 1991, I have been an environmental activist and leader in Kitsap County and served on three different state wide boards. I helped found Kitsap Citizens for Responsible Planning and West Sound Conservation Council (of which I am currently chairperson). I serve on Kitsap Conservation Voters, a local environmental political action committee. I ran for office twice; for County Commissioner and State Senator, coming close but loosing each time. My husband and I are Co-Chairs of our local chapter of RESULTS, a wonderful international social justice and global health advocacy organization. (Check out www.results.org ) I have a special knack for bringing people together to work on towards common goals and providing organizational structure to volunteer groups focused on improving community life. Other members of our passionate group include environmental leaders, the owner of the largest architectural firm in the county, a education coordinator at the local extension office, a retired science teacher and County Planning Commission member, a high school student, the webmaster for Seattle Community College system, a retired counselor, a retired corporate public relations officer, a retired navel officer and an engineer. They are all wildly excited about this effort and committed to its success.
