Project Summary

Using a structured format, Moving Forward Together would bring citizens together in a series of intergenerational discussions that would result in consensus, collaborative efforts and in establishing action teams to work for the common good of the community's future.

About me

I have been the President/CEO of Leadership Lincoln for the past 10 years. Prior to taking this job, I served as Chief of Staff for two mayors (one a D and one an R). From those experiences I have come to feel strongly about the citizens' role in the community. Too often we leave all decision making and all involvement in the hands of politicians and government officials. In order to work effectively and to be the best community we can be, we need the input and WORK of as many citizens as possible. Citizens, including youth, need to have a role in how the community works, to take responsibility for strengthening and transforming their community. But, too often, citizens feel as if no one listens and no one cares what they think. We need to reverse those feelings and find our commonalities and work together. Leadership Lincoln has a long history of collaborating and would work with partners such as our local media, government, other not-for-profits, the Vision 2015 group to host these discussions that move to action.
