Hundreds of Gandhi's autobiography, My Experiments with Truth were donated to the Unity Walk in 2006. The book, "My Experiments with Truth", the autobiography of M.K Gandhi were donated by the "Gujarat Vidyapith" the university founded by M.K. Gandhi in Ahmedabad.

With so much of the world's conflict hinging on the conflict between Christian's, Jews and Muslims, Ambassador Akbar Ahmed, rabbi Bruce Lustig and Bishop John Chane show a different face at the Unity Walk.

The New York Unity Walk was organized by Religions for Peace, USA. The event walked three miles and concluded across from ground zero with a multi faith reflection.

The Islamic Center offered meeting space for numerous dialogues and planning meetings. On the day of the walk, the Islamic Center enabled participants who would not usually be able to see the inside of a Mosque to explore, ask questions and learn more about Islam.

Rev Richard Cizik spoke about the the need for faith communities to stand up and take responsibility for civic life and to make a difference.

The Sikh community of Washington, DC and Maryland have been active planners of the Unity Walk and have agreed to include the walk as an ongoing program for the Gurdwara.

Rev. Mpho Tutu spoke about the need to reach out across lines of religious and cultural difference and commended the Unity Walk planners for their willingness to reach out in peace.

Former Senator Harris Wofford spoke at the Unity Walk 2007 about the connection between Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. In particular, he connected his own experience as an an informal advisor to Dr. King and to President John F. Kennedy. His talk was pertinent to the twenty first century challenges that we face with increasing religious misunderstanding and violence.
