Community Project 2: Design a mural!

For our second community project, we put the call out for community members to create, design, and photograph a mural using recycled goods that represented the possibilities of community engagement and action. Ubiquitous street artist, Buttercup, a photographer in school for fine arts, and a free lance writer stepped up to the challenge and designed a three part mural (you only are seeing the first of three parts) made on white paper bags that were then handed out to everyone in attendance at our next party. Enjoy!

Community Project 1: How do you Feel?

At one of our first parties, we took poloroid pictures of all the attendees and asked them to write down "how they felt" at that moment. We then had then post their picture up on a big board that everyone could view. It was fun and easy way to show the strength of community and the incredible energy of everyone there. Or part of us anyway ... we've now expanded to 4 other cities (New Orleans, Austin, Richmond, and DC) and we have more amazing core partners in NYC as well...but this gives you at least a glimpse of who we are!
