My Project Diary

Thoughts on 2008

I get more and more excited about doing intergenerational work this year. We need it so badly to build the kind of social movements in this country that can make really deep change.

I've got a confirmation from Theresa El Amin of the Southern Antiracist Network. She is coordinating the Ella Baker - SNCC tour, which will bring elder activists who were members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to the Twin Cities. My other commitment is from Jan Mandell, who teaches at St. Paul Central High School. She coordinates St. Paul Central Touring Theatre, a group of her incredible students who do Theatre of the Oppressed and create profound plays about their life experiences.

My dream is to have the SNCC elders meet with the theatre students and talk about doing intergenerational justice work.

I sure hope I make the top 20! Thanks, Case Foundation, for helping me with this dream.
