My School is Your School is about the NH community, residents/parents/grandparents & organizations feeling welcome in all NHPS buildings. We are dedicated to promoting a warm/caring atmosphere, 2way engagement, stronger relationships & ownership that will enhance all students' academic success.

About me

I'm Dominick Maldonado. Past 20 yrs been employed by the NH Hlth Dept. My NHPS involvement is as a grandparent. I have 5; three of them attend the NHPS. Active mbr of CETeam & Columbus Academy PTO President. The majority of students/parents r Latino & Spanish is primary language. The CETeam has no funding & Case Foundation grant will support our efforts. I'm finally involved w/a group of cmty/schl mbrs who listen to the community & r taking action for our kids. I've heard for many years from parents/community members & grandparents how unwelcome they feel in schl bldgs. We're finally doing something about it! No one should ever feel uncomfortable in the place his/her child is being taught. We're committed to 2way engagement & actively do multicultural & hard to reach outreach. We partnered w/school staff to plan ways to create strategies/implementation of "Mi Escuela es Su Escuela". We will use newsletters, students, parent/teacher mtgs, word of mouth, mailings, local cable tv, Af/Am & Latino agencies. Passion/commitment describe our CETeam who attended 14 mtgs/9 mos w/an average of 85-95% attendance. All "evening" cmty mtgs! The following groups r actively involved: 10 whites, 6 Af/Am, 4 Latinos, Parents, tchrs, union, cmty youth agency, high schl student, grandparents, schl principals, tchrs, dentist, social development staff, chamber of commerce, family agency, univ, schl brd, tchr institute, health stff. Outreach to new members is a constant commitment and activity.
