Script-in-hand Reading Held to Promote Dialogue and the UNCommon Council

On February 16, 2008- F.O.R.C.E. held a script-in-hand reading of selected works of Langston Hughes taken from his book, Simple's Uncle Sam, which is a compilation of short stories (dialogues) about (with) a fictional character he created named, Jesse B. Semple, whose friends affectionately call, "Simple."

Simple represents the ordinary person. Hughes uses "simple" language to convey "simple truths" about social injustices which existed in the country during the 50’s and 60’s. We used the readings to promote the concept of dialogue and the UNCommon Council as a "potential" vehicle for correcting injustices that exist in our community.
