Ally Jessup & Jim Grund are ready for our 1st Trunk or Treat to start. We had numerous children visit and plan on having this again in 2008.

Friendship Park

Our sign has come in. Now we have to figure out how to put it up! Many thanks to Brad Carter with Caring, Connecting Communities for having this made.

Jim & Lydia

Yep, that's me, Lydia Long. And that's my grandson, Jim. There are four generations of my family living in this neighborhood. Family, friends and neighbors is what it's all about.

Mary Marshall & 3rd Annual Cleanup

Mary has been involved in the neighborhood association from the start. She is the head of our Neighborhood Watches and has been involved in every aspect of seeing our neighborhood improve. In this photo she is directing traffic for our annual neighborhood cleanup event.

Project Pocket Park

This photo shows the first lot we have purchased that we have envisoned as a neighborhood garden. We are hoping this park will become a gathering spot to enjoy flowers and visit. Our neighborhood association is partnering with a church close to the property and a non profit in town in order to ensure the continuted upkeep of our park for generations to come.

The Faulkner Family & National Night Out

Mary Faulkner, grandmom and son Stephen are shown at the 2006 National Night out. This event was sponsored by the Neighborhood Association and brought members of the police, sheriffs and fire department to provide information for our neighbor concerning child safety. Car seats were checked and children ID kits were prepared. Childrens events were held and a blood drive collected 12 pints of blood for our local blood center. Several churches participated and provided food and candy for the children.

Mrs. Murphys House

Mrs. Murphys house has ungone extensive cleanup over the past 3 summers. Neighbors started with cleaning the yard, hauling off old cars and furniture. The next year brush was cleaned out and the summer of 2007 her house was given a fresh coat of paint and minor repairs made. Mrs. Murphy is now an active member of the community.

Annual Garage Sale

Neighbors shop our annual October neighborhood garage sale. The proceeds from the Association garage sale help with out of pocket expenses, such as copies of city ordinances and announcements of upcoming neighborhood events. Neighbors and Churches this year held a variety of garage sales.

3rd Annual Neighborhood Cleanup

Our 3rd Annual neighborhood cleanup netted us over 41 tons of trash and 225 tires. Keep Abilene Beautiful and the City Waste Department helped sponsor this event. Volunteers spent all day clean yards and alleys. An additional 10 flatbed trailers of limbs went into recycling instead of the dump.

Summer 2007 Projects

During the summer of 2007, churches and neighbors worked together to paint and clean properties in our neighborhood. This house was given a fresh coat of paint, and repairs including a new bathroom were completed. Other summer projects included our 3rd Annual Neighborhood Cleanup, flags for National Holidays, and starting a neighborhood garden.
