Project Summary

We seek to create a community that is invested in providing a nurturing environment that empowers all youth to thrive. We use a strengths-based language to send consistent messages to youthand families. We will provide opportunties for youth to be resources to our community and to each other.

About me

I work for a local school district. I spent the last 12 years as a high school guidance counselor. This year I will be an assistant principal of a middle school. In my almost 20 years of working for a school district in Omaha, I have seen various agencies, including schools, try to develop and implement programs to help develop youth in positive ways. I've seen many of these efforts fail because they were primarily the work of 1 organization. I have spent the last few years trying to forge cooperative relationships with various community agencies so that we can pool resources and ideas AND involve youth. We seek to develop ALL youth, not simply those deemed "at risk" by an arbitrary standard. Our partnerships has really come together in recent months as we have started looking at the 40 Developmental Asset Framework as a researched backed way of promoting positive youth development for all young people.
