Project Summary
In the heart of Boston, a diverse group of Bostonians is united by a common interest in rehabilitating a park but not just for the sake of nature. We're reframing the park and its rocky centerpiece as a foundation for community engagement and empowerment, led by youth and community elders.
About me
DAVE KRAMER - me! 1st, I'm a dad of a curious bicultural 2-year old and husband of a dynamic Colombian woman. 2nd, I'm passionate about urban education, having spent 6 years teaching - 4 in Colombia and 2 in Boston with Citizen Schools. One college summer, I lived and taught in Boston public housing and feel a deep connection to the city's neighborhoods. 3rd, I believe it's critical to care for and learn from our local environment and public spaces which have power to revitalize communities. I earned a master's in public policy from Harvard in 2005 before spending a year studying outdoor leadership. I'm now working for a nonprofit that focuses on Latin American conservation and development - topics and places that are very important to me, but, in managing projects half a world away, I ache to engage with my local neighborhood, landscape, and the people it nurtures.
