Public forums are presente based on the belief that an informed and engaged public builds a stronger sense of community and success in acheiving desired results. About meThe four founding members of Progress Independence have a collective background in health care, education, public relations, and public service. A stated priority of presenting our necessary programming is that events must be offered free of charge. In addition to hosting these public forums, we also maintaing a large data base and a Web site (www.progressindependence.org) designed to keep citizens informed of our events and activities. We assume incidental expenses for printing, Web site hosting, fund raising, and supplies. Currently our operations are executed by a 100% volunteer effort. The founding members are active members of the community who have participated in political campaigns, school board elections, and community projects. Our shared experience informed us that citizens often find it difficult to locate information they desire and have limited access to elected and appointed officials. Individually and as a group we wanted to create an organization that would bridge the gap between established community leaders and authorities and citizens they serve. These community indivduals include elected officers, city staff, and leaders of business, education and civic endeavors. With additional funding, Progress Independence would expand its capability of hosting more events and executing a more sophisticated public relations and marketing campaign. |
