The 10,000 Hours Show at the UofA is a unique student run organization with the mission of bringing our student body together by helping others. About meThis past March I, Cecilia R, was selected for United Way's Alternative Spring Break program in Southwest Louisiana. I first spoke about my experience in detail in class-I broke down crying half way through my speech with emotion describing the setting. It was Louisiana where a fire lit within, and it was there I heard about The 10,000 Hours Show. That experience set me off to the point where I deeply want other students to feel what I feel every time I volunteer. Immediately after spring break I compiled my student staff that now totals 45. With weekly staff meetings and goals to deadlines set, everyone is eager to be a part of something new. I strongly believe The 10,000 Hours Show will be the event of the year and years to come that will unite The University of Arizona student body and bridge the gap between our community and the Tucson community. Charlie K. is our Director of Public Relations. He has a background in working with children in both high school and at the UofA. He is passionate about working with Tucson's at-risk children and jumped at the idea of showing other students the reward that comes with giving children hope and changing their lives. Patrick N. will be working closely with non-profits. He is excited for the year and shared this, "10k is a way for me to connect and unite with people I've never met before, 10k allows me to meet more locals, hear their hardships and hopefully make their lives a little bit easier." |
