It was so great to be on the Square Tuesday night when election results came in. It was truly a historic day for our town to finally gain control of all of the schools within our city boundaries. This has been a battle for generations, it's hard to believe it finally happened.
The founders and board members of Progress Independence want to thank our funders and all those who attended the informational forums in September. It was clear that the community was eager for details about the vote and how the transition would take place if the ballot measure passed. We were privileged to fulfill this role in our community.

It is always surprising to look back on the year and assess what PI acheived. It's easy to feel like we're not doing much, but each January when I sit down and review our activities, I am reminded about the impact PI is having in our community.
Certainly the greatest acheivement was coordinating the two forums to discuss the school district boundary proposal, but we also brought people together for other important issues like property code, community policing and transit. It is gratifying to continue to partner with city departments, regional organizations, and the school district, among others.
